Ilgiz Kambarov

Ilgiz Kambarov has a solid work experience at national and international levels in international organizations and private companies. He is manager and participant of researches and projects related to the green economy and sustainable development in Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia.

He holds extensive experience in election analysis and monitoring, project management, project monitoring and implementation, international trade, academic management and teaching. For several years, he worked at the OSCE Program Office in Bishkek, was a member of the International Election Observation Mission to the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE) in Kyrgyzstan in 2005, 2017, 2020 and 2021. In addition, as an international consultant, he served as a long-term observer for the ODIHR (OSCE) election observation missions for local elections in Albania and for the 2019 and 2021 extraordinary parliamentary elections in Bulgaria, respectively. As the director of a language school, BSC Kyrgyzstan, he was at the forefront of opening the first franchise of UK based international  language school group in Kyrgyzstan. He was also at the forefront of introducing the first official international language test center – IELTS in Kyrgyzstan.

As national consultant for UN Development Program, he has conducted research related to green economy and has skills in managing green projects. Ilgiz also teaches at the Kyrgyz Economic University. He successfully completed the training “Climate Change and Conflict” from OSCE Academy in Bishkek.

Kambarov Ilgiz is a country coordinator in the Regional Climate Network of the Central Asian Civil Society, which is a union of national climate and environmental networks of all Central Asian countries, created for free exchange of information, dialogue and discussions on environmental and climate policy and development of climate action of the public in the region. He is also a member of the supervisory board of the Rural Development Fund, a leading organization for conducting social research, assisting in the formation of public policy and implementing projects in the field of rural development. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the project “Support to Local Community Development of Green Agriculture” – “Go Green”, which is funded by the European Union, and aimed at climate change mitigation and sustainable use of natural resources through the introduction and application of green technologies and innovations in the collection and use of genetic resources, medicinal and useful plants.

On behalf of the Green Alliance of Kyrgyzstan, he is the manager of a project aimed at promoting and implementing a voluntary eco-certification scheme among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Kyrgyzstan under the project to promote energy and resource efficiency in the Kyrgyz tourism industry (PERETO).

He is concerned about environmental issues arising in Kyrgyzstan and around the world, such as air pollution, waste management, green agriculture, green finance, climate change, environmental protection and others. He strives to make a positive contribution to the promotion of green economy and sustainable development in Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia.

Ilgiz Kambarov is a graduate of the American University of Central Asia with a degree in International and Comparative Politics. Received a master’s degree in management from the University of Economics and Entrepreneurship. In addition to his native Kyrgyz, he speaks English, Russian, Turkish, and French.
